Coaching Team

Robbie Dougan (Head Coach)

Robbie oversees the development and delivery of the coaching programme at Alliance. While his main focus is the Development and Gold Squads, he coaches each squad in the club at least once each week. He is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified and licensed coach, and an STA-qualified swim teacher. He has many years' experience with Templemore ASC (where he also continues to coach) and in teaching swimming for the Templemore Users Trust swim school in East Belfast. He has been Head Coach of Alliance since May 2018.

Kirsten Scott

Kirsten has been coaching with Alliance for a number of years, and currently holds lead responsibility for the Bronze and Bronze Advanced Squads. She is also the coordinator of the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. Kirsten is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified swimming teacher and a Level 1 qualified coach.

Lisa Marks

Lisa has been coaching with Alliance for a number of years, and currently holds lead responsibility for the Silver Squad. She is also a lead teacher on the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. Lisa is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified swimming teacher and a Level 1 qualified coach.

Rachel Brown

A highly successful competitive swimmer herself, Rachel supports the training of the Bronze and Bronze Advanced Squads in the club. She is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified swim teacher.

Lucy Browne

A former club captain as a swimmer, Lucy supports the training of the Development and Gold Squads in the club. She also teaches beginning swimmers in the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. A trainee primary school teacher, she is currently on sabbatical while furthering her own training in England. Lucy is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified swimming teacher.

Innes Gray

Innes has an envious sporting background as a player, coach and team manager in soccer, rugby and rugby league. At Alliance, he mainly coaches the Gold Squad. He is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified coach.

Aidan Hughes

A lifelong swimmer himself, Aidan supports the coaching of the Bronze and Bronze Advanced Squads in the club and also contributes at the advanced stage of the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. He is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified coach.

Amy Marks

A recent club captain, Amy contributes to coaching across a number of squads in the club, but with particular focus on the Gold Squad. An NPLQ qualified lifeguard, she also holds the Swim Ireland Level 1 swim teaching qualification and will shortly be taking on her Level 2 qualification.

Daniel McIlrath

Daniel leads the Superheroes dryland training sessions in the club. He is currently completing a sports science degree at Ulster University, as well as being a fully qualified personal trainer and gymnastics coach.

Johnny Proctor

Johnny boasts a wealth of experience as an STA-qualified swim teacher at the Templemore Trust swim school, and has recently joined the coaching set-up at Alliance assisting with the Bronze Squads.

Andrew Scott

Andrew contributes to the coaching of the Bronze Squads in the club. Currently the Club chairperson, he is also a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified and licensed coach.

Garry Tilbury

Garry has been a longstanding member of the club, first as a decorated swimmer and more recently as a committed swim teacher and coach. He coaches the Bronze Advanced Squad in the club. He is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified swimming teacher.

Ken Tilbury

Ken is a stalwart of the Alliance coaching team having contributed to the coaching team for many years. He leads Bronze Advanced Squad sessions, and is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified swim teacher.
