Wavebreakers Teachers

Kirsten Scott (Coordinator)

Kirsten is the coordinator of the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme, and for the most part teaches mid-level 'Yellow Hats' groups. She has been coaching with Alliance for a number of years, and currently holds lead responsibility for the Bronze and Bronze Advanced Squads in the main club. Kirsten is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified swimming teacher and a Level 1 qualified coach.

Lisa Marks

Lisa teaches mainly at the beginner and advanced beginner 'Red Hats' and 'Green Hats' levels. She has been coaching with Alliance for a number of years, and currently holds lead responsibility for the Silver Squad in the main club. Lisa is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified swimming teacher and a Level 1 qualified coach.

Orla Cash

Orla has contributed to the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme for a number of years, first as a volunteer teaching assistant, and now as a qualified swim teacher. She holds the Swim Ireland Level 1 Swimming Teacher qualification.

Robbie Dougan

Robbie, the Head Coach of Alliance ASC, takes classes at the advanced 'White Hats' and Black Hats' levels in Wavebreakers, but also at the beginners 'Red Hats' level. He is a Swim Ireland Level 2 qualified coach, and an STA-qualified swim teacher. He has many years' experience with Templemore ASC (where he also continues to coach) and in teaching swimming for the Templemore Users Trust swim school in East Belfast. He has been Head Coach of the club since May 2018.

Maddie Gillespie

Maddie is a recent recruit to the Wavebreakers swim programme. She was formerly a competitive swimmer with our sister club, Templemore ASC, and  holds the STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming and the NPLQ lifeguarding qualification.

Aidan Hughes

Aidan leads groups at the advanced, 'Black Hats', stage of the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. He is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified coach.

John Jeffrey

John is a recent recruit to the Wavebreakers swim programme. He is a highly successful, competitive swimmer with our sister club, Templemore ASC, where he is currently Club Captain. John holds the STA Certificate in Teaching Swimming and the NPLQ lifeguarding qualification.

Niamh Lindsay

Niamh has contributed to the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme for a number of years, first as a volunteer teaching assistant, and now as a qualified swim teacher. She holds the Swim Ireland Level 1 Swimming Teacher qualification.

Amy Marks

A recent club captain, Amy leads 'Red Hats', beginners groups in the Wavebreakers programme, while also contributing to coaching across a number of squads in the club. An NPLQ qualified lifeguard, she also holds the Swim Ireland Level 1 swim teaching qualification and will shortly be taking on her Level 2 qualification.

Naoise McCormick

Naoise has contributed to the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme for a number of years, first as a volunteer teaching assistant, as a lifeguard, and now as a qualified swim teacher. She holds the Swim Ireland Level 1 Swimming Teacher and NPLQ lifeguarding qualifications. She is also to be found lifeguarding at Let's Go Hydro.

Una Roberts

Una has contributed to the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme for a number of years, first as a volunteer teaching assistant, as a lifeguard, and now as a qualified swim teacher. She holds the Swim Ireland Level 1 Swimming Teacher and NPLQ lifeguarding qualifications.

Garry Tilbury

Garry has been a longstanding member of the club, first as a decorated swimmer and more recently as a committed swim teacher and coach. He takes groups at the top end of the Wavebreakers programme. He is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified swimming teacher.

Lucy Browne

A former club captain as a swimmer, Lucy teaches beginning, 'Red Hats', swimmers in the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. She also supports the training of the Development and Gold Squads in the main club. She is a Swim Ireland Level 1 qualified swimming teacher, and will shortly be undertaking her level 2 qualification. A trainee primary school teacher, Lucy is currently on sabbatical from Wavebreakers while furthering her own training in England. 

Andrew Scott

Andrew has taken groups at the advanced stages of the Wavebreakers learn to swim programme. He is a Swim Ireland Level 1 coach and undertook his Level 2 coaching qualification. Andrew currently serves as a back-up teacher for the programme, freeing time for his role as Club Chair.
